Resources

This section features information on books and articles by and about Jeanne Bamberger. There are videos of Jeanne working with children to understand the rhythmic hierarchy of music and uncover the underlying mathematics.

Learning happens:

Moving back and forth between action disappearing in time and school-based, symbolic reasoning, the children held time still to look AT what they knew how to do in action already.

Learning in Action:

The children were generating coherent musical structures in an environment that is joining media: numbers, spatial representations, sound-in-time. Listening back, they were giving meaning to equivalent fractions and proportion.
